Semmozhi Poonga, meaning “Classical Language Park,” is a lush urban botanical garden nestled in the heart of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Spread across 40 acres, this eco-haven is a celebration of biodiversity, culture, and sustainable landscaping. Established by the Horticulture Department of Tamil Nadu, Semmozhi Poonga was opened to the public in November 2010 and has since become a tranquil escape for locals and tourists alike. Designed by expert horticulturists and landscape architects, the park features over 500 species of plants, including rare medicinal herbs, ornamental flora, and vibrant seasonal blooms. The garden's thematic zones—such as the Palm Court, Butterfly Garden, Water Garden, and Fern Garden—create immersive experiences that appeal to both nature lovers and casual visitors.

Located on the historic Cathedral Road, the park offers a peaceful green lung in the midst of Chennai’s bustling cityscape. It’s not only a place for leisure and relaxation but also a vital center for environmental education and awareness.
